SUMMARY:2026 Traditional Games 
DESCRIPTION:The Ninth Annual Traditional Games will be held in Juneau from Friday through Sunday\, April 10–12\, 2026\, bringing together participants and community members to celebrate Indigenous traditional games and cultural practices. \n\n\n\nThis event features 12 traditional games that reflect Indigenous ways of life\, skill\, and endurance. The games will be live streamed on the Sealaska Heritage Institute YouTube channel\, allowing broader community access to the competitions. \n\n\n\nAthlete registration will be available online beginning January 23 for eligible participants. \n\n\n\nDivisions: \n\n\n\n\nOpen Division: 18+ adults out of high school\n\n\n\nMiddle School Division: 6th–8th grade\n\n\n\nHigh School Division: 9th–12th grade\n\n\n\n\nIn addition to the games\, artist market opportunities will be available during the event. DESCRIPTION:The World Eskimo–Indian Olympics (WEIO) is an annual summer event that brings together Indigenous athletes\, dancers\, and community members to participate in traditional games and cultural activities rooted in Indigenous ways of life. \n\n\n\nWEIO highlights traditional athletic practices that reflect strength\, endurance\, skill\, and cultural knowledge developed through lived experience. Alongside athletic events\, the gathering includes dance\, vendors\, and community participation that support cultural sharing and continuity. \n\n\n\nParticipation & Eligibility:Participation in WEIO activities is subject to eligibility requirements outlined in WEIO bylaws. Athletic participants must meet membership requirements and be at least 12 years of age.
